DANCING QUEEN...

It's funny how certain songs stick in your head and remind you of a specific time. For me, It is "Jungle Love" and "Dancing Queen".

"Jungle Love" reminds me of a time when I was about 15. When I went to China with my Dad and the former Secretary of Health and Human Services in 2008, the Secretary came up with a game for us to play. We were sitting at the dinner table at the home of the ambassador to China. Secretary Leavitt decided that we all needed to think of a song that reminded us of a specific time when we were between the ages of 13 and 15 and then tell the group about it. I panicked at first then remembered a time when I was driving down a dirt road with friends and we were listening to "Jungle Love" by the Steve Miller Band. I had to sing it for the group. As I'm sure you can imagine, my performance was breathtaking.

The next song that is stuck in my head is "Dancing Queen" by ABBA. I heard this song while riding back home to Atlanta with a friend after my MS diagnosis. It was very poignant as I had never been a dancing queen and knew then that I probably never would be. I could not listen to the song for a long time but I am able to enjoy it now. I do however always get a lump in my throat when I hear it.
